Behind the Scenes
Late March '10
To be honest, I think I like doing photography, because it allows my clients (And in many cases, my clients are children) to let their imaginations soar. Possibilities are endless and the phrases "Impossible and Not now" are never heard. If my client can imagine it- in some way- it can and will be done. When I watch their beautiful imaginations spark, it really sparks my creativity. It's this wonderful synergy that I am excited and thankful to be a part of. It truly fuels why I do what I do.
On this particular day, my young client came to me with a request. We had a photo play date a few weeks prior (with my daughters) and apparently, since then she had been pining over shooting with me again. She proclaimed that she wanted to look like an "Old Hollywood Style Film Star". She came over to my house in a beautiful red ensemble, with matching red lipstick. (Well done, child!!) I was so impressed at how she had all of her ideas for our shoot well planned out. I was tickled at how assertive she was, and hoped that I lived up to her expectations.
Here are two pictures from our shoot, to her exact specifications:

Late Winter '10
Being a proud Momma to four daughters, (Dis almost 13, R is almost 9 and my twins are ten months younger than R. Twins, P and M, are almost 8.) I love capturing memories through photography- my own memory has many gaps. I am really fortunate to have kids that love being creative in front of the camera. They help me to grow as a photographer. ...And I'm pretty sure they have fun too. ;)
During this session, a couple of my daughters brought their friends over to play with us. I had the kids dress-up however they wanted and I let them have-at-it with my makeup bag. They clamored off to the bathroom and from the distance I heard giggles, items dropping; continuous sprays of hairspray; screams of joy; and exclaimations of what they were about to try. I knew this playdate was going to be a mess, but who am I, to hinder their angelic creativity? I just let them roll.
When the kids came out they were smothered in makeup. We all had a laugh. They eagerly bounced in front of the lights, begging for me to start taking pictures, and this is what their brilliant minds came up with!
